Sustainability & environmental responsibility are key words within all of the Beaulieu International Group divisions.

Reducing the impact of our activities on the environment is a prime consideration:

• our products: innovation leading to product creation using sustainable resources
• our manufacturing: process efficiency, waste management, emission reduction and material recycling
• our working environment: safety & health of our workers

Reduction of water consumption and the reuse of purified waste water are fundamental issues in our strategy of environmental awareness.

In order to reach these targets Beaulieu International Group was the first in the carpet sector to invest in a water treatment system, dealing with the waste water of three tuft and needle felt plants.

The final step of this treatment, a reverse osmosis unit, delivers 250 m³ pure water per day, ie. 60 million liter per year. This water is reused over and over again in our production processes.

Beaulieu International Group is proud to have 2 major carpet factories operating without any waste water emission: these plants are certified zero water emission plants!

Starting at the very beginning with focused product development and throughout the processes we constantly work on innovating and optimizing our manufacturing methods, in order to minimize the waste production.

Furthermore, we are committed to recycle the waste material generated throughout the production process to a maximum effect. A large amount of the materials are reused in new products in the home textile industry (e.g. components for bed mattresses), the automotive industry (e.g. car door panels and car mats) and roofing materials.

Waste materials which cannot be reused in new products become an alternative energy resource (e.g. fuel for cement ovens).

We are already marketing a 100% recyclable needle felt carpet, mainly to be used at events, exhibitions and trade fairs. Our engineers have created new ways to produce needle felt carpet, which can be decomposed after usage and recomposed into new products.

All the electrical energy used by the Beaulieu International Group is coming from renewable energy resources.

We are not only reducing CO₂-emissions by using green energy, since 2009 we are producing green energy ourselves. In our plant in Kruishoutem (Belgium), we have 4 ha with 5.900 photovoltaic panels producing 1 million kWh per year, which equals the electricity needs of 300 families.

At all times, we analyse our production processes in order to eliminate the elements which are too energyconsuming. Our employees are all involved and consulted in these energy saving programs.
